1.Solenoid are basically electromagnets which convert electrical input into mechanical- Linear or Rotary.
2. Solenoids are designed to be study and reliable actuators to be used in machine tools to operate levers, cams, brakes, locks.
3. Solenoids can replace lot of pneumatics. Ir gives you stand-alone actuation without any components i.e. solenoid valve, FRL, compressor etc. Solenoids work on DC voltage.
4. Solenoids cut down cost of automation as it does not need any back-up components. Solienoids give you years of operation without a single rupee/minute after maintance.
5. Solenoids means easy automation, with heavy cost reduction, no maintenance and peace of mind.

Design parameters.... consider three factors- stroke, force, duty cycle which effect and affect efficiency of the solenoid. Specify exact force required and accurate stroke length of the actuation. Proper duty cycle (continous / intermittent / pulse ) will ensure correct wattage and size of the solenoid. All three factors, if properly specified (without exaggeration) will help you getting correct linear solenoid from CFC.
